Holthers Our Lady of the Irish "IRISH" Born November 25, 2007
Fifteen Time World Disc Dog Championships Finalist Multiple Top Ten World Championship Placements Multiple Time winner in Distance events "SAVED MY LIFE"
Well I said what the heck...what's another border collie so my wife and I started searching for a third border collie, and we found Holther Border Collies. We knew we wanted a female and this is how Irish came into our hearts.
I finally got my little girl and soon found out how sweet and loving Irish was. She loved the frisbee…freestyle was fun, but excelled in the distance events. Irish has the most beautiful jump and tuck landing that I had ever seen.
Irish is most famous for "Saving my Life"…I was very sick, but did not realize it until she alerted me one morning. I went to the hospital and the next thing I knew I was having emergency surgery to save my life. Specialists told me without Irish warning me I would have passed away in less then 24 hours. "Irish is my Angel"
Irish was named after the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame
April 18th, 2017 Irish is such a sweetheart, she has slowed down a lot but it is always wanting to play frisbee any time of the day I will throw her one. If she would have never had the leg injuries she probably would be competing at a elite level in Distance and Accuracy events.
July 16th, 2016 Sweet little Diddle, I actually think she is looking good at almost 9 years old playing disc still, she loves it and if she can find the disc in the air 99 percent of the time that means she will catch it. I dont do freestyle with her anymore after all the surgeries. She still loves to play and I think she gets the most excited of any of the pups. I still thank her all the time for saving my life.
February 18th, 2016 I have to say Irish right now is looking and running around the best she has in years. She is such a sweetheart and loves playing disc.
November 17th, 2015 Irish has been coming around greatly right before my knee surgeries. She is back to jumping so beautifully like she used to before her Knee surgeries. I need to get outside and let Irish run. She is such a sweet sweet little girl.
July 24th, 2015 Irish is finally playing frisbee again after all her surgeries. Irish has lost a lot of speed which is expected but at almost 8 years old I am not going to push her to exercise and perform at as high of a level as she used to. As long as she wants to play we will play at whatever level and speed she wants to play at as long as she is having fun.
April 1st, 2015 Irish is getting better every day and doing more everyday!
March 26th, 2015 Irish is starting to be able to exercise some more and starting to show some excitement with her freedom again and we will take the frisbee slow with her.
February 16th, 2015 Irish is still recovering from her double knee surgeries but oh my she is getting so close to being able to resume normal activities. Her bones are healed from the surgery, just need to redevelop her muscles now. I feel so bad for her almost a year in a pen or crate. She has had such a wonderful attitude. I dream to play frisbee with her again. December 9th, 2014 If you follow us and Irish any you can see below well we ended up having a horrible diagnosis and after seeking advice elsewhere we found out Irish did have a torn ACL and also a Torn Meniscus. Wow we were so disappointed and the one expert said it looks like it had been there from the beginning. Irish could have almost already been healed and probably could have competed in the World Championships. Irish is just starting to walk on her own but controlled. We still have a few months to go. She has been such a sweet girl despite all she has been thru.
June 7th, 2014 Actually some really good news on Irish we thought she had a ACL injury and we just kept taking it easy on her and this was after she had broke a toe running out a door and ripped it on a door frame and had to have two bones removed. So things were going rough on her. Well after the specialist did their research we found out she just had a severe groin pull and we need 4 to 6 weeks to let it recover. Also we have to take some weight off of her their is a reason I call her my little piggy girl. Weight issues has always been a problem with her. But I am so happy to know I will be able to play again with her. We will have a long road ahead of us and I don't know if we will ever be ready for freestyle this year but we will for sure be ready next year.
