I knew I wanted a second potential disc dog after I got Rocket after I found out how fun the sport was and I wanted to double the fun. Well we went to this different border collie breeder then we got Rocket from and we saw a bunch of puppies but there was one runt of the litter off by himself with unique facial markings and for some reason I just knew at that point that is who I wanted.
Gipper had a lot of little quirks when we first got him, but over time he slowly started to fall in love with the disc. When he was two he started to win and just kept on winning and winning.
Gipper was named after Legendary Old Time Great Notre Dame Football player George Gipp.
April 18th, 2017 Gipper is still going strong and Loves to play everyday and every second he can. He loves playing with a ball every day also. Stacey and I were talking the other day if he did not have his respiratory problems he would still be probably competing at a very good level. Gipper is such a loyal loyal dog.
July 16th, 2016 Sweet Gipper keeps going and going his health has slowed him down incredibly but Stacey and I said we will be super careful with him but when he wants to play we will play with him. He is still the most incredible loyal dog as even right now he is next to me.
February 18th, 2016 Well as all you know Gipper has had numerous health issues and well we took him off a lot of medications and his hair and weight came back plus a few pounds but that is ok. He still has congestion issues but he just seems happier now. Still doing regular checkups and staying on top of his health issues.
November 17th, 2015 Gipper is still holding in there and I think by now everyone has seen how Gipper has lost a lot of his hair but his heart is a strong as it has ever been. Stacey is and will be playing with Gipper as much as she can in disc dogging events.
July 23rd, 2015 Gipper is a sick little boy but we were told to just let him do what he wants and when he wants so I will keep playing with him until he tells me no more. He has slowed down greatly but he is still happy !
March 31st, 2015 Gipper at University of Auburn today getting more medical tests done.
March 26th, 2015 Gipper is still feeling under the weather we hope we can get a answer to some of his continued health problems this next week.
March 14th, 2015
GIPPER QUALIFIES FOR SKYHOUNDZ WORLD FRISBEE DOG CHAMPIONSHIPS AGAIN! I was told by my wife that Gipper could play a little freestyle at this past weekends Skyhoundz event and well the wind was a little tough but Gipper pulled off another wind despite his health issues so proud of this little guy!
March 10th, 2015 Well we will see with Gipper as many of you know Gipper has been very sick with multiple health issues since August and he has fought them all like a champion and included in this was a accident in which he dislocated and lodged one of his front elbows. This little guy has been thru a lot I pray still he gets better so he can go chase some more frisbees again in the future .
December 9th, 2014 It has been a struggle physically with Gipper for awhile now going into the recent World Championships in which he still had a shot to win at the very end even at nine years old and being sick. But we have just about ruled out cancer with a whole lot of tests but he is still under the weather and tests are still being run. He is still a very happy boy and of course always underneath my feet wherever I am.
Sept 1, 2014 Gipper will be going back to the World Championships in Freestyle. It will be the last time he competes in Expert Freestyle. He competed just recently in Masters Freestyle for dogs over 9 and shattered the World Record held by Rocket. He had two flawless perfect no drop rounds of freestyle. Gipper will also be competing in the World Championships this year in Distance and Accuracy, Spot Landing, Bullseye, DD Freestyle and Pairs D/A
June 7th, 2014 Well what can you say Gipper is Gipper and just a incredible dog, we got the news and this is the first place it has been shared. Gipper seemed to be coming up a little tender on one of his back hips and sure enough after a lot of trips to a specialist it was confirmed he has a issue back there and we caught it before it got really bad and it was recommended that we gently work him and we hopefully can get thru this season and then we need to retire him from competitive freestyle, We will still do demos but the rigors of training for freestyle will be over. He is and will continue to be spoiled. He has also qualified for the world championships this year in both Regular Freestyle and also DiscDogAthon freestyle. He is the most loyal dog and has really warmed up to Hope who runs to Gipper whenever she needs to feel secure.
